Rejected by the feral woman once her blood-children were born, she found purpose in climbing the peeks and was introduced to a new life in Shadow Ridge after a fierce encounter with Muskrat. They homed her, fed her, and she hid away in the mountains in fear of sick people. Quickly adapting to the rocky terrain of the ridge, and learning how to be worthy of stay, they taught her how to be stronger, better, and independent to care for their tight knit family.

A brutal fall which left Nutuyikruk paralyzed swept her away from the ridge, and by the time she could walk, she went out to find the closest mother figure she's felt– Muskrat. It was a failed search, and she returned with nothing to show to find the man she considered a father. Hex. But he was gone.
And so was home.

Set astray and wandering aimless through the north, Nutuyikruk discovers the beauty of the elk and the caribou moving harmonious in the deep winter. But she is ambushed by the chieftain of Saatsine, Sun Eater, as he sees something in her green eyes that sparks something intense in the man.

Now she is not the raider, but the slave.
