He brought her back to where the rabbit lay, a small upset of snow and half-white fur. The rabbit had yet to get its snow-coat and this meant it was easier to prey upon.

Fallen Sun lifted the small creature from its spot and drew it closer to Winter Song's feet, resting it gently. A final nudge of his nose to hone the point that he now wanted to give it to her.

The man had eaten earlier, anyway.

Another questioning glance. Hungry? You can have it.

Slanting her head in the way she often did, she eyed the thin-furred rabbit. From it, then back to him.

A swaying tail displayed her appreciation. But she would take it a step further.

Slinking around to his side, she pressed her flank gently to his, then caressed his shoulder with a soft nudge before pulling away.

Thank you. Her eyes were as soft as her words would have been, a true sincerity shone within.

Fallen Sun's tail continued to wag. Was he wolf or dog at this point? He definitely was something - more pupish than a man when excited.

Winter Song was happy with his offering and sat beside him, her fur touching his. The man grinned at her.

Words were what he longed for, but he didn't need them more often than not. Most got the message, and he was glad Winter Song did.

Content in this moment, she had no intention to move.

No.. she wanted to stay right here.

Leaning in toward him again, she moved into his side, practically burrowing herself into him.

With closed eyes, she hummed softly, enjoying the warmth and comfort of his presence here with her. She felt safe, and happy. Two things she had missed, but now felt belonged to her.

For now, at least.

She wasn't Wind Flower. Wind Flower was wild and delicate, as if a breeze could extinguish her candlelight and send it flying into the night sky in a flicker of smoke and fireflies.

Winter Song was different. And that was good — no two wolves were the same.

He rested his head on hers, nosing into her neck fur and making sure his nose wouldn't be cold. So she wouldn't be cold, though he was fairly certain snow did not touch her. Perhaps it thought her as it's own.

Fallen Sun was a man who had only courted one in his life. He'd always hold her fondly in his heart.

Winter Song was a breeze that he hadn't expected, but seemed to hold a similar air. In the sunset man's heart, he truly did want her to be warm, and safe, and a belly round with food. She seemed to be fond of him, as well. Perhaps Winter Song wanted the same for him? Only time would tell, he thought — but it'd seem like for now, the snow-pelted she-wolf would be a companion to the man fire.

Time passed as they sat together, and becoming lost in the moment, she began to hum a soft tune.

A lullaby she'd been sung a few times as a babe, and always held close. It was her mother's favorite. And after the painful passing, the little snow girl vowed to never forget each soft note of the sweet melody.

Soft like the snowshoe's fur
Cool as the touch of the snow..
The breeze carries far,
Guiding the trees in a gentle sway.
They dance together in the grove,

Birds in the branches,
Singing their native song...

And so the quiet words went on, carried by the wind as it blew past their joined bodies.

i'm not at all good with making up lyrics, but I did my best :D ^^

He KNEW she could sing.

When he looked upon her and dubbed her Winter Song - she just looked like a wolf who could sing. Well... the few words of it he understood were pretty, and he drank her voice like summer rain after drought nonetheless.

hretty. a whisper upon the wind, an almost-word. Directed at her, for that was where he looked. Whether it were for the song or her, he did not have words to say.

Hretty. Pretty.

She warmed at his compliment, the lyrics falling short as she nuzzled her cheek into his shoulder to hide the newly formed flush.

My mother sang this to me when I was a babe... She tells him, despite knowing he may not understand all of what she said. Her voice was the most beautiful in all the tribe. In my opinion.. in all the world.

I think your voice is pretty, too -

The custom of his old land was to find a woman and bring her back to birthpack for two reasons; one, for peace of mind of the pair that their child still drew breath and found success without them, and to assess the wolf the dispersing one had found. But he didn't remember where that pack lay; so instead, he'd continue as he were. A slender muzzle found its way around her head. Cold? He wondered.

Sunset wondered if there were more stories of her tribe! That'd be super cool to learn.

The chill of the wind didn't bother her. She was used to the cold.

But here, in his embrace, she couldn't bring herself to pull away. It was too good. Something she wasn't yet willing to give up.

More words did not come, but the soft, rumbling hum, displaying her contentedness.

He always seemed to wear a smile around her.

This was no different.

Fallen Sun never wanted her to feel cold - not now, not ever! She was too... good. Whatever that was, he held no words for it. But there he stayed, shielding her from winter's chill with candlelight.

She seemed to doze for a time, her humming ceasing.

But when her feet shifted beneath her, a nearby rustle stirring her, she twisted her body to settle upright.

To her right, she noticed sunset there, and a warmth settled into her belly.

They had stayed like that together, and he had not left her!

[ooc]fade here? We can start new threads if you want :>[/q]

Fallen Sun didn't think he'd leave Winter Song, aside from duties of the protection of the pack. Sometimes, hunting would take him farther away; borders needed marked. Even then, he would count the steps until he could draw himself back to her again.

She had dozed off, and her face looked very cute. But he'd stayed there, keeping watch. a woman deserved to sleep peacefully, without threat of danger.

He wanted her to sleep peacefully.

And he'd make sure of it.

He remained unmoving, her shield and pillow all in one!

Relaxing her newly stiffened muscles, she settled back against him and let her eyes fall closed.
