Lorcan smirked, his dark gaze flicking toward Envy as she prodded, her curiosity as relentless as her charm. He let her words hang in the air for a moment, savoring the way she toyed with him, pushing just enough to test the waters but not enough to break the surface.

I liked what I did, he said simply, his voice low and smooth, offering just enough to tease without truly revealing. It was the truth—he’d found a thrill in his work, a purpose that suited his nature, though he’d learned long ago to guard the details with his life.

That’s enough for now, Lorcan added with a slight edge, his smirk deepening as he watched her nosing at the ground. We’ve got work to do.

With a casual flick of his tail, he moved ahead, his sharp eyes scanning their surroundings, though he couldn’t deny the faint amusement tugging at the corners of his lips. She was an intriguing one, that much was certain. But even for her, he wasn’t about to give everything away so easily.

Envy felt a little gratified to hear his confirmation, it felt like some dirty secret shared between them. It confirmed something in her, too. She was simply wired this way, meant to feel things that others didn't. Meant to not feel thing others did. Was it sickness? Or was it nature? To know this absence existed beyond herself... it warmed her little heart.

She hadn't expected an answer, but his dismissal was tasty enough. She only giggled in response and carried on. There was work to do, after all.
