Her heat had only passed a few days prior, Hokulani still lingering in the scents of company she had held and gifts they had left. But while her window had passed, the confidence it gave her had not - likely because morning sickness hadn't hit her yet. For a day or two more she would be free from it.
She could see someone ahead. He wasn't like Aureli, nor the forest brute.. but something in between. Her tail couldn't help swaying. With his posture, low and alert, she was sure that he either already knew she was approaching or was yet to notice her at all - too focused on the task in front of him.
Hokulani chose to take her chances, her howl coming out low and sweet.
