Arverk did not patrol the borders of the Spine purely because he wanted to earn the warden trade. He guarded the scent markers because it was his duty as a wolf of the pack to do so, and he felt the urge to protect the Spine from anyone of the outside world because of the upcoming pups. Coyotes, wolves, even foxes were unwelcomed within the lands of Ouroboros Spine. However small they were, they were still a potential danger to the upcoming children, and no dangers would be present in the packlands, not on his watch.

The Epsilon trudged forward, silent as a shadow, but alert and on his guard. Patrolling wasn't meant to be interesting, as far as he was concerned, so he did not understand those who thought of this duty as 'boring'. Their entire attention should be focused on securing the borders, nothing else, nevertheless, he did not question those who sought to keep their mind occupied while they busied themselves with doing the very 'mundane' duty of patrolling.

Keen blue eyes spotted an unknown figure ahead as well as an unfamiliar scent. Immediately, his hackles bristled along his spine and his lips peeled back, ready to snarl, just for his jaws to clamp shut a moment later when his black nostrils flared and caught the scent of the Spine on this wolf. His hackles flattened as he strode forward, chuffing softly to the newbie to alert him of his presence, assuming the newcomer didn't already know.
