There was a low rumble of irritation in Ira’s throat as he awoke with a jerking start, eyes bursting wide though he did not make immediate sense of his surroundings. It took a couple of blinks to encourage his eyes to focus, and a few more seconds until realization dawned upon him as he understood with a lift of his upper lip in disgust why he was not inside the den he shared with Jinx. Oh right, his guardian and Beta had put him in “charge” of the shadow pelted idiot to “put him through his paces”. Ira had initially refused to sleep within a hundred feet of Jace but had decided that ten feet was close enough to keep a weary and irritable eye on him since he figured it was useless to try to worm his way into the den with Jinx. It was likely, the Priceling had assumed, that she would bar him from entering because he was not supposed to go anywhere without Jace which, even in the few hours Ira had to endure it (not including their time spent sleeping) he found it to be a utter pain in his ass. He glimpsed at the other boy’s form in the distance with unhindered distaste figuring that it was a mutual feeling. Whatever. Ira was the one in charge and as long as Jace remembered that, Ira would put up with him for the two day sentence they had been given though in truth, he’d been given no real choice. Neither of them had, and it was almost infuriating despite that Ira was begrudgingly convinced that Jinx had not done it to torture him but to prep him for his future as a leader, that Jinx had likely taken advantage of his inability to disobey her.
He was slow to get up, pushing himself into a sitting position and then, after yawning largely his jaws snapping shut with a resounding click of his sharpened teeth, he stood and shook his coat out, stretching his stiffened muscles hating that he had been restless in sleep, waking often to make sure the other was not plotting to kill him in his sleep. A glimpse skyward told him it was only dawn, that the sun was just beginning it’s rise over the earth, and there was an exasperated sigh that pushed from betwixt his parted lips. While the other was asleep - at least Ira assumed he was asleep but frankly didn’t care whether he was awake, asleep, or even alive - Ira dug in at the cache that he knew was nearby and plucked a rabbit out for himself, eating it quickly not wanting to waste time before he grabbed a second scrawny rabbit from the cache, slung the dirt back over it and trotted over to where Jace slept and promptly dropped the rabbit so it landed with a wet splat hopefully on Jace’s face or somewhere nearby his face. “Get up and eat; we’ve got a lot to do today.” Ira commanded as he moved a few paces away, turned and stared the other down with impatience.
@Jace
For funsies I'm going to say this day two of their two day jail sentence together, even though it's technically backdated a good bit. ahah. I also feel so bad for Ira's mean thoughts. T_T
