He lead his brother onward, emboldened to have a follower at his back, and so it was with a raised head and upright tail that he triumphantly swaggered down through the woods. He had no game plan other than to see how far he got, but the world was filled with all manner of new things, and soon he was consumed by distraction. He would wander off his straight bath to sniff at a rock, or a tree, or a rock beside a tree, and then shove his face into the bush as his nose tracked after the hour-old scent of a chipmunk or mouse.

It was not long before the newest distraction was something that moved, and he came to an abrupt halt as a songbird, a small yellowish finch, landed on the ground ahead of them. His lips curled into a devil's grin as he eyed the creature, and he dropped to his belly, prowling forward and expecting his brother to do the same.
