It was not Damien, and so his mind could not connect his actions to being capable of causing any repercussions against either himself or his family. And so, rather than giving in, he'd pushed off the ground with his forelimbs in order to fling his body backwards, aiming to flatten Cicero beneath his weight. The possibility of wounds inflicted on him in the process of doing so remained far from his mind, his need to win having been blinding enough.
