Rannoch listened carefully to what Lucy had to say, holding onto each word desperately. “Lucy,” he whined as his ears lowered, feeling conflict flare within him. “You know I would have done everything that I could have done to keep you safe,” Don’t you know that? There was a sensation within his chest that flared as he fell silent, not finding the right words after what he said.
Didn’t she see how much he cared? He wasn’t sure of this and it broke his heart.
