Colt was just about to raise his head when some guy called out a greeting, drawing his attention.  He turned to look at him, appraising a moment before taking on a cocky grin.

"Hey," he called back, not knowing why the stranger wanted to chat but, as a relatively friendly dude, willing regardless.  So he came closer, stopping after he'd closed some of the gap between them.
