Though Liffey's comment had initially broken the ice, Rannoch reverted into his fear quickly, realizing that what had been said hadn't been crystal clear to him. "But, I didn't scare you before the bear did, right?" Like Liffey, Rannoch had been thinking of when they would interact again, but at the sight of her, all of those thoughts had been tossed out the window, and now he had nothing in mind. Instead, he would take his words as they came and hoped for the best.  

Now he was left with his question hanging in the air between them. Unable to move, he remained as he was and waited, wondering what was going through her mind.
