A peculiar scent upon the border had caught Rannoch's attention in the midst of his patrol. A wave of salt came to the wide-set male by way of the Summer breeze, alerting him of the wolf that lingered at the boundaries of his territory. Whoever it was carried the smell of the ocean, the sharp bite of salt that Rannoch had once carried on his pelt, and he was intrigued to see what a sea-dwelling was doing on his borders. 

The two crossed paths eventually, probably sooner than it would have naturally panned out given Rannoch's curiosity, and when he caught sight of her, he halted his pace and allowed a distance between them. "You tread close to my borders," he informed as he called out her, his posture lifted to indicate his standing in their exchange.
