did he not realize that she had been there for that time, that she'd expressed to delight her fears of tindome dying?  she could still smell burke, malice, and delight.. so the only extra that had disappeared was herself, right?  brienne was not nearly as good as the shutting-out-emotions thing as her once-lover was.

she wanted desperately to sweep to his side and comfort him as it'd come so easily to her when she was a young girl but as much as she wanted to she knew that she couldn't so there was no use in drawing out this encounter.  either he had room or he didn't, and if he didn't she needed to find somehere safe for the winter — and fast.
