Gannet gave his usual short response, which wasn't unexpected. Charon's short response, however, was. Liffey looked at him, sadness for her friend seeping across her heart. She'd been very selfish since Galaxy's death, and she had known it. Selfish in a very selfless way, for it had been her concern for her childhood friend's well-being that had consumed her, but selfish nonetheless as it had been her childhood friend. She had not reached out to her packmates the way she ought to have. The condolences she'd shared with Hydra had been given out of circumstance - had the girl not been there the day she'd come to see Gannet, Liffey would not have sought her out. That was not to say they hadn't been given in earnest, but she should have done better. This family might not be hers, but they had taken her in and cared for Rannoch like their own. All this effort at being a good, dutiful packmate, and she had failed them on the most basic of levels.
"Charon, is there anything I can do for you? Your family?" Liffey asked, her voice small but unwavering, "I can head out for a while and look for Korei, if you wish? I am a ranger, and really. Anything you need - I'm here." She paused before saying much more, realizing she was fumbling her words and likely doing a poor job at expressing herself, as usual. She was loathe to leave Gannet for as long as it would take for her to really search for Charon's wayward daughter, but Rannoch would be here, and they really hadn't done anything to hurt him further. Maybe Charon might even let her escort him back to the Caldera now... just maybe.
Probably not.

if I knew where I was going, I'd lose my way.
