The Tangle hips that could bear you a buffalo

Eirlys offers comfort to her in a way no one else can. Blixen has given her comfort, in some instances. Seri and Rose, too. Étoille has his own way and Eske, on occasion, has soothed her troubled mind. But Eirlys? Eiryls is home. They may not have Teaghlaigh, their mother, and plenty of time between one another, but they are still family, and if she remembers only one thing, it’s that.
 
“I… I have missed you guys so much. I didn’t know how to get back… I thought about you so much,” she cries, pressing harder into her sister. If she could disappear into the thick fur of her younger sister, she would. It wouldn’t take much, especially since so much of Mallaidh has disappeared and Furi is hardly more than a hallow shell, just trying to get by without being caught.
 
But what now?
 
“I wish… I could go back. Before I left—got lost—maybe… maybe…” maybe their mother would still be alive.
