soon, the girl curled inside of relmyna whispered. soon. you will remember.
the evoker could not understand such things — what was it she would recall? — but did not dwell on her inner madnesses. only two more writhings had occured in the past weeks; she hoped it was the end of the fits that jarred her teeth together and threw her body around against the ground.
her sickness too had abated, replaced by a great hunger. with their few numbers, the caches were not well-stocked; relmyna felt she might have become quite hungry at times were it not for the gifts of meat from her reaper. today, however, she had not seen him — the evoker was preparing herself for the hunt. yet as she passed through the wood, curiosity about where she would deliver her brood stirred. she was not the only one, the priestess came to realize; there was another, pale as she, and the evoker paused to take stock of the woman, plume waving pleasantly in the air behind her hips.
