she'd never been so happy to see dio in her whole life-- besides maybe his return from the war. he circled them, leaving portia only to whine-- come closer. "broken," portia said softly, forcing her face into dio's neck. she held her paw up just barely off the ground. it hurt to raise it and it hurt to put it down, so it just held limply-- which still hurt. he nudged her cheek, and she pulled back only when heda arrived. though she asked for no information, portia knew to supply it.

"we were gathering herbs at the garden outside drageda, two men attacked us... drogon and... rumil--" she looked to her daughter for confirmation, but didn't stop herself, "i don't know who they were or... or what they want, their attack was unprovoked." 

rose came soon after-- and artaax as well. and though she listened easily when rose gave command to eat the seeds, stubbornly, portia shook her heda. "my den," she said firmly, "there is more there." of course portia hated not being able to mend herself, it was her job after all. but if someone else was going to do it, they were going to use her own supply.
