To her surprise, the wolf lunges forward and startled, she back pedals several steps into safety. Silver, peppery fur bristles up her mane, a young lion with her lioness mother behind her, and teeth bared should she attack. 

But the other only swoops to the ground and takes the pieces that had fallen from her mouth, stepping back to her safety to take in what’s left. She watches with curiosity, lips sheathing back over but her fur remains alert and ruffled. The strangers offers her help for whatever reason to know where she’d found the fruit but for what? Her eyes narrow, scrutinizing the motive. 

”I don’t need help,” she states flatly, eventually smoothing our her fur and licking her lips. The tart feeling coats her mouth and she wants for water but does not move to satisfy the need just yet.
