Heron Lake Plateau Lost some pieces I can't replace

She took it well, which was good, because 'packmate got exiled probably to his death' was a time that in Colt's mind demanded a small measure of sensitivity. He definitely thought all involved had made the right call here, and didn't feel the blame on any individual. Luck was shitty sometimes.

When he felt her teeth brush his chin, and heard her question, he realized just how close they were, and his chest gave an uncomfortable sort of lurch.  He stilled that immediately, but  he hadn't been this close, or slept even next to anyone, since... well, it had been a long while.  

But she was young and needed someone there, and he couldn't say no to that, could he?  She'd have had my ears if I did, he thought silently, and the rememberance made him smile even as it sent another pang though his gut.  "Sure, I can do that."
