Her frantic heart thrummed in her chest, lithe frame trembling beneath the weight of Constantine's blinking stare. Durnehviir gazed right back, teeth clenched beneath her lips, as something akin to fear glimmered in the soft gold of her irises. Afraid for Viinturuth, a juvenile of no experience in the ways of the wild beyond their home, stepping into the unknown at the beginning of his first Winter.
Would he experience a second? Would he survive this current one?
The dragoness sucked in a breath, ginger ears tilted back as she succumbed to her grief. She hung her head, guilty, as her mate (could they still consider themselves as such?) attempted to take charge of the situation. Unable to stifle the sob that racked her body, Durnehviir sank to the snowy ground and wept freely.
