Shadewood we are made of starstuff

The panic that had surged and caused her heart to race rapidly slowly came to a stop as he stopped crying and nestled into her fur again. She would not do that to him again, she could tell now that he was soft and would need protection rather than encouragement to grow stronger and become a fighter like she had. It was something that scared her, to know that he was so easily scared in a world full of pain. She shoved the thoughts away and instead licked his fur and tucked him to her teats, where he could nurse if he wanted as her tail curled over him to keep him warm.
