Rannoch and Liffey had parted ways promptly after they had revealed to the children that they were all moving. Now, only the conversation with @Terance stood between him and the relocation. Rannoch trudged through Lost Creek Hollow one last time with a heavy heart, his paws feeling much heavier than usual.
Rannoch paused in the shade of a gnarled oak tree, well aware that his time was running out; his procrastination needed to end. He abruptly threw back his head summoned Terance for one last time, his voice low and full of grief, as he sunk onto his hindquarters.
The wait began, and Rannoch did his best to savor the last few moments of peace.

a crime so old as the sky and bone
he came untied, solid as a stone
all is almost lost and it starts to show
he came untied, solid as a stone
all is almost lost and it starts to show
