They had the yearling surrounded, and all that was left was to go in for the kill. Rannoch was the first to reveal himself to their target. He vaulted from the cover of the tall grass with an intent to drive the child towards Deshyr, not too concerned about the others who scattered at his arrival. Rannoch only had eyes for the one they had singled out.
Surprisingly, the doe complied in its panic. It galloped away from the group towards Deshyr with a shriek, unaware of the danger that lurked.
