The cloak of ink seemed to move confidently along the outskirts of the claim. Snow had lined the ground long before that moment, but it did not bother him much. The chilling touch of winter had made a home within his bones. There was nothing that he could change about it, so he was left only to embrace it and to move on. Young and inexperienced with the world, Trench had only recently developed that sense of apathy in order to find relief with those things that he did not understand.
In his last excursion, he had ventured too far and had been forced to hole up inside of a cave until he could find his way back. Now, standing on the edge of Diaspora, the young wolf viewed his home from the outside with a thoughtful countenance. It wasn’t much, he realized then, but they had managed to hold onto it for long enough to deem it a home. Perhaps, that was all that mattered.
