Kipling had been pulled in by the call, swift in arrival but stiff-legged in her approach. When the summons came from Ferdie and she entered the scene the she-wolf had postured herself appropriately, ears bent and tail limp but her clear eyes were round and she scrutinized the strange scent she encountered and the female it belong to. It was not at first because the female smelled so new, freshly coaxed in the scent of their leader, but it was what her eyes proved as she at first gazed blankly at the round belly when new light came to her eyes in realization.
What?
The word dropped from between her lips, so taken back she simply halted where she was and tilted her head, greeting no one. Had she missed something? Then it occurred to her that's exactly what had happened, and why Ferdie had sought to draw them together. And then her gaze turned expectantly to him, then Jace, and the pregnant female looking to see who would be first to speak and explain what had happened and where they would go from here. Depending on what she assumed she heard this was huge development among them, not one that would taken easily as the Summer was dying fast around them.
