Under an inky canvas sprinkled with countless diamonds, came the arrival of yet another faerie strayed from the court. Like so many of them and the fiery sovereign nestled in this very meadow, Siofra also had felt crowded there. But she didn't leave because she felt pressured to, or unwanted. The court was simply too stuffy these days! There was no room to breathe. She felt closed in...restricted. And being the free spirit that she was, she hated that! To truly flourish, a faerie needed to spread her wings and fly.
The stars miles above her head had always captivated her. She had seen them many of times of course, but never so clearly. Never so close. Wide eyed, she gazed up in awe, mouth open in a small O. She raised a dainty paw, as is to reach up and try and snatch one from the sky itself. The little star eluded her of course, as they all had. Siofra giggled, unsurprised by her futile attempt, amused at her own failure. "Ah well. There is always next time, ain't there?"
Time to get serious. Well, sort of. This was Siofra after all. And when did she hardly ever take anything seriously? Not often, so far in her very short life on this planet. Ocean colored eyes turned from the sky, to the openness of the meadow in which she stood. It was large and somewhat sheltered, but not much else. There was the smell of foxes everywhere too, but she ignored them. If anything, if she bumped into one, they'd make a good hunting target. For practice of course. She squinted. There was a shape in one of the crevices. Wolf like. Throwing caution to the wind, she approached. Their scent got stronger the closer she got. It was unmistakable. That scent...their shape. Orlaith! Siofra's tail wagged frantically, butt wiggling. The younger female had always admired her. Looked up to her as an idol. Pestered her constantly when they were back in the court. It was so good to see her again! Not knowing any better or not giving a damn, Siofra tucked in close, huddling her much smaller frame against that of Orlaith's, resting her head against the crook of her neck, like she had done dozens of times before in days lost in the past.
