The sensation of being watched nagged at her.
Danger. There was danger here. Not one of a spiritual kind, no. A physical, flesh and blood, predatory feeling that had Macaria on her paws, anxiously scanning the edge of the Mesa.
the shewolf seems alerted as well...
Her dismissal is not heeded as closely as she typically would when the sound of a rock tumbling down the side of the mesa draws her attention with a snap. Landslide? She searches the ground for cracks, backing up towards the center of the precipice. Another clatter, followed by a Rumble, and Her eyes fell on him, exposed by the boulder he'd knocked loose- a Lion.
Every nerve in her body screamed at her to run. But she had no prey. And neither did the lion. And it wasn't attacking, so perhaps didn't have Cubs? It was far too late in the year for small Cubs anyways.
So curious, she approached the cat, dark eyes peering, body flattened, trying to mimic what she had once seen a bobcat do after losing a fight, and therefore assumed were signs of submission in felines.
Silently, she watched, and waited.
