Scorpion was beginning to wonder why she revolved around this spot so obsessively, as this consideration had not crossed her mind before. There had never been a reason to question her own actions before, but now she thought about it. She wondered what intrigued her so, about the young wolf and his brother’s claim, unable to recognize that it was loneliness that drove the social duskfox into realms of insanity. Repetitive actions that yielded nothing but a deeper ostracization at the end of the day. She was prepared to cease these visits, make this one her last...

Then, as if she had the ability to manifest her own desires in the bleakest moments, he was there. Plucking about the borders at a distracted clip. His dark fur dappled in waning sunlight. Scorpion was not sure it was him at first, and tensed in preparation to be disappointed, but the closer the rangy figure got, the more certain she became; Until the blue glint of his eye flashed in her direction, missing her nest by mere inches.

The mittened she-wolf darted out of her hiding spot, and prowled at an angle towards Antares, repeating the manner in which he had stalked her from before. She let her walk make all the noise she needed until they would lock eyes, and when she had his attention, she would drop further into her crouch, with cat-like intent, and pause just outside the borders to lash her tail fiercely.

I’ve been waiting, her eyes, hard as diamonds, accused.
