He lost her. Only briefly. Only for a little wee moment until her trail was caught again and the boy was off like lightning to track her down. She had a damn head start and had the advantage of being the one who was chased and knew where she was going - while he was stuck behind just trying to follow and keep up. Tracking her down was half the fun if he was being honest, a little game of catch up with a dash of follow the leader, and a splash of hide and seek. 

Says you. He said like any sassy boy talking back to an adult. You couldn't get away so I win!. They didn't come up with any rules of their game and so they both seemed to be on two completely separate ideas of what was going on; and Valium, as usual, believed him to be right. But now... he wasn't sure what that meant. Soooooooo.... and it was awkward.

What do I get? he looked at her with wide silver and red eyes, just greedily and waiting for some kind of gift. Maybe something delicious that wasn't that gross ass root she had him chew on earlier. Even now when he was not eagerly looking at Melaine, he was glaring at the nauseating root she dropped.
