One heavy step before the next, the bear squinted towards the sea's horizon against the biting wind, colder than any she had met this season. To her, the winter had been gentle so far, and the temperatures too mild to justify the deep sleep yet when she felt so dissatisfied, and restless to match. Hungry, but for more, and an itch she could not scratch alone.
For now, solace came in the windbreak of the meager trees as she passed through the woodlot, still attempting to trace the coastline. It had worked before. Skuld only paused to give her hide a mighty shake, loosing sand and dampness from her outercoat and saliva from her jowls, then resumed her lumbering search on. All else, inconsequential.
