Bramblepoint remembrance

Apisi held in a chuckle. The deep forest he and the stranger found themselves in was anything but comfortable. Although there were a few patches that were a bit more comfortable than the rest. Moss and softer grass littering the areas. There was also a small valley that Apisi had passed a couple of hours ago. 

"There's a small valley of grass that's much more comfortable toward the west," Apisi said, stretching out his muscles after the tension had seemed to die down between them, "I can show you the whereabouts but you have to be careful come sun-up, bears tend to prowl the thicker parts of these woods and we seem to have found ourselves in a pretty thick area."

He trotted ahead of the small wolf, catching a whiff of them as he passed. The wolf was slightly younger than him, possibly an outcast? It was interesting to see another loner after the two years Apisi had spent roaming around. 

"Did your pack throw you out?" Apisi asked, nipping the awkward tension that had tried to creep up between them in the bud. He wasn't much for talking but the silence between him and a stranger was a silence Apisi wasn't too fond of. It sent shivers down his spine, causing the hair on his back to raise slightly. He angled his ears to keep track of where the wolf was. If he was going to be ambushed or killed he wanted to have a fair shot to deal some damage himself.
