He tried to focus his swirling emotions elsewhere. They were hard to ignore, but even at his young age, Ensio knew that it would do him no good to let them eat him up. Grieving took time, and everyone had their own way of working through it. What made it difficult for the young Duskfire was the timing and the circumstances of it all.

But there was a silver lining. Their guests. The allies of Moonglow, settled close by. He frequented their scents often, or found a stray clump of tell tale fur here and there. He had even engaged with some of their youth, his own age. Distraction, Ensio found, was helpful. Any sort of outlet for his emotions, or to take his mind off them. The children of the Moon pack especially got his interest bubbling. Pulled him in, teasing his desire to socialize.

Clutched in his jaws was an object from his very early childhood. A fist sized, flat rock. The surface was smooth; almost glossy. But that wasn't what he thought was special about it. It was the color. A swirling of blue-ish black and storm gray. So very much like his father. The man he would never truly know.

Ahead he spotted the figure of one of Moonglow's children. She was a blast of warm color against the monotones of the Glacier's land. This one, he didn't believe he had met before. Picking up the pace, but not closing in too fast too soon, he chuffed out a greeting.
