With each sunrise and sunset, the children grew and so too did his love for them. With some guilt, he wondered if he had ever felt the same about Mira’s children, or if perhaps he felt more for these ones because genetically they were his. His role in their lives was much the same- he was a provider, a protector, a support for the mother who reared them.

He could not deny the budding feeling within his chest that he felt with each change, each giggle, each squeal. He remained both vigilant and present, trying his hardest to try and at least keep the shimmer in his eyes to when he looked at the children but he found it remained when he looked at their mother too.

He dozed quietly just beyond the den, but lifted his head when he heard the soft tread of little paws. He sat up, prepared to gently shepherd the boy back to his mother when she appeared alongside him, followed shortly thereafter by Aerilyn.

He shook a bit of debris from his pelt and meandered closer, tail swinging and head low, reluctant and yet willing to allow Ash Star this time alone with her children if she saw fit to wave him off- and yearning to be included all the same.
