With each step his footing became more unstable, the rocks shifting dangerously beneath his paws. He carefully trod his way to a larger, flatter stone and paused to survey the slope below. From here, the rubble had levelled most of the nearby pines and fanned out towards the distant treeline - it made for a natural barrier for those passing from the west but would be unsuitable for a camp. Not to mention dangerous as well. With no physician, a sprained paw or a broken leg would drag them all down.
