twitch snorted, shaking her head. “bold of you to assume you’re any good to me at all,” she shot back, but her voice lacked real bite.

but she didn’t argue the point, didn’t pick apart what he meant by it. maybe because she was too tired, or maybe because some part of her—some quiet, stubborn part she refused to acknowledge—didn’t hate the thought. no, probably just too tired.
