Her face plunged into its entrails, tearing through them with frantic hunger. She would see to the lynx for Skorpa—she had sworn it—but the strength the gods had stolen from her had to be reclaimed, mouthful by mouthful, devoured, swallowed, until she was choking on it. The fervor possessed her through the night, driving her until her body could bear no more, until she collapsed in exhaustion, her legs trembling—a tremor that soon consumed her entire being, wracking her with spasms that, once again, carried her to the brink of the divine...
