kaldros's small body stirred in the den at the familiar scent—his father's scent. it clung to the air like a comforting blanket, strong and solid. his tiny nose wrinkled, the muscles in his legs twitching as he tried to move. the world around him was still mostly unfamiliar, but the scent of his father... that brought something new, something deeper.
with a soft, high-pitched whine, kaldros pushed himself up on wobbly legs, his tiny body trying to balance. his mouth opened, but the sound that came out was nothing more than a jumble of noise—a series of nonsensical gurgles and chirps, gibberish, as he tried to speak.
da-da... da-da... he managed to grunt, his voice weak and uncoordinated, the words slipping from his tiny throat in broken fits.
