No longer can he smell his parents through the haze of blood. It was everywhere, dampening his fur. Leaving him cold. Never had the air been so rancid.

His voice comes in hiccupping cries, whenever he is granted breath.

They turn into high pitched screams when a violent shake across the earth rends him. He can feel his paw get caught under his body the wrong way. The snap of the leg above when he is twisted. Never had the boy known fire, but this was surely agony.
