How does something so pure deserve to survive? How can sunlight fall so freely upon such wretched ground? Kirain's voice was barely a whisper, stripped of its usual warmth and gentle cadence. Her silver eyes, dulled with sorrow, lingered on the delicate blooms as tears welled at their corners.

What right did she have to witness such beauty? After all her failures, who was she to feel anything but regret?

And yet she stared, unable to tear her gaze away.
