He immediately whirled to face her when she asked her question. Alivia fixed him with a look of good-natured confusion, tail switching expectantly. 

"Es peligroso," he said, his one eye flicking back downriver. 

"Oh yeah," Alivia agreed wholeheartedly. "That moose was majorly gross-o. I wonder what was wrong it it." 

He turned from her and finally emitted a word she recognized. "Come."

"Sure thing, Boss," she murmured. As she trailed behind him, her stomach rumbled audibly.
