From here Hokulani could see the isalnd she wished for, and yet it was not excitement that filled her chest this time.

She could read where the ocean allowed a passage, see where the tide would drag her out on the journey, but would others be able to? What Hokulani wanted was an empire of sorts, and if others could not reach her then an empire would never come to be.

It seemed to her that the better strategy would be to remain on the mainland. A territory with access to the ocean, close enough to packlands that dispersals and wandering loners may come across her. She felt that this may work, give her a chance to build a life, and when the time was right she could move onto that island with a pack in tow.

As she stood upon the short mountain, she scanned the visible coastline. Where would be best? Somewhere with a view of the island, so she could guard what was hers. That would be best.
