She felt a sigh catch in her throat when Arrluk waxed about the Moon villages. It was a bygone era now, wasn’t it? Although she shared his optimism about the bright future now dawning on the mount, Tiuttuk still mourned the demise of the previous village, and all the wolves lost along the way.
Speaking of promising futures, Pie intended to circle back to his twin daughters. Before she could, however, another figure approached them. Treepie threw a smile Katmai’s way, then abruptly remembered to dip her head and tail. Just like part of her still grieved Moonspear, it sometimes took a second to remember her new place in the scheme of things. Arrluk’s presence made it feel all the more peculiar, though she knew she would adjust.
A tooth sank into her lower lip. She had only just reunited with Arrluk, though suddenly she felt out of place. She doubted either man would wish her to go, though Pie suddenly felt like she needed to step back from this situation, at least for a few moments.

Katmai, this is Arrluk. He’s a relative of mine and, more importantly, the leader of Moonglow. They live just across the way,she said, motioning with her muzzle even as another realization struck her.
They’ve always been our closest ally and sister pack. I hope that remains the case, though I suppose that’s not my call now,she thought aloud, blinking at Katmai.

Why don’t you two get to know each other? I’ll head to the borders if you’d like to come find me and catch up more later, Arrluk. If you need to head home sooner than later, though, I totally understand. I promise I’ll pay a visit soon to meet your girls. As she spoke, she stepped close enough to nudge Arrluk’s cheek and bump their shoulders together.
It has been good to see your face, were her parting words.
