They were a strange pair, he thought, only to wonder thereafter if he had been that awkward and full of himself at that age. But they seemed to almost bend to appeasing him, as though his opinion mattered at all what he thought of their bickering. It was a humoring note, but Mordecai wouldn't make note of it out in the open. It would have only added to the awkwardness he present felt for them.

At the yearling male's question though, his attention piqued. Come in? Visit their territory? It sounded more like a trap to him, or at least a ploy of some sort. "I don't think your leader would consider that wise," he started to say, but soon thereafter didn't see the point in it. If they invited a bunch of strangers over for dinner, Mordecai assumed their alpha would dispatch them. "I just came around to see who was living here now. I have my answer." A beat of silence pursued. "If it's no trouble, I'll see myself clear from your borders."

If they wanted to follow him, he would hold no qualms.
