All Welcome
Maybe @Floki but all welcome. :-)

Dawn had begun it's early break in the skyline, streaking it in a monochrome palette, varying shades of gray that might have been depressing to Tev if he didn't know anything else. The nights were dipping into the low temperatures, likely colder than the days where the sun had a chance to warm the earth up. Yet, the Kjalarr would not subject himself to aggravating the sensitivity to light as he had as a child. He stuck to the shadows of the night, reveling in the darkness to give him as true a gift of sight as he was ever going to have. Sometimes Tev found himself wondering about colors, wondering what they looked like and how they made a difference to the world around him; but he did not linger upon the 'what if's' for long. He'd been born this way and it simply was how it was. How the Gods had ordained it. It was strange how he'd once refused to believe in any sort of deity but he had rapidly grown obsessed with the ways of the Northmen. The ways of his people. His culture. He couldn't learn enough fast enough, and always there was a desire to learn more than he'd known before. The pursuit of knowledge was a satisfying one ...yet it also left him wanting more.

What he knew was never enough and there was too much to learn in one day. Decades of culture and stories, or beliefs and laws. Laws that did seem to constitute with anything Bazi and Scimitar had upheld. There was a sort of freedom the Vikings allowed, as he understood it, so long as they remembered that they answered to their Jarl at the end of the day. That was what Ragnar had been. A Jarl. One of circumstance as he'd been told, but a true Jarl, nevertheless.

Whether this strive to be like the deceased Loðbrok was his biological family's intent when he'd arrived as their doorstep or not was often a question in his mind...but Tev didn't care. To aspire beyond what his legendary father had accomplished? That was always the end goal, right? To do more than your father before you. To uphold the legacy but also make it your own. Something better. Yet, he tucked these thoughts away. Perhaps the ambition had always been there, more prominent when he was a small boy still swaggering around the Bay like he owned the place; left abandoned when he'd been taken into the Frostfurs' home for the simple sake of survival. Perhaps here it was allowed to be nurtured and nurture it Kjalarr intended.

Eyes of silver and caribbean blue settled upon the landscape outside the borders, pausing as he let out a soft breath, the steam furling from his lips rising to writhe into the winter air where it caressed the leather of his nose, warm for a few seconds before it dissipated, as he stretched. Soon the sun would rise into the horizon and chase him into the comfort of his bachelor den where he intended to catch up on much needed Z's; but not yet. There were still a few hours before he would seek his slumber and Tev did not intend to waste them.
