Devastation was still upon them – and yet it was strange t think how quickly he had gotten used to the barren trees. The pines had never been stripped of their needles in their lifetime – even when the deciduous trees of the Wilds shed their leaves for the winter, the pines held strong – majestic and beautiful. Until now, at least.
