Silver Creek come, ye sisters, come

One by one, the other females she would be sharing a territory with showed up, all offering polite greetings before waiting to hear what Addison had to say. All except for a dark grey female who went to sit directly next to her half-sister, clearly stating she thought she was important here. Effie thought that was an awfully bold move, especially considering none of them really had any power; it was all decided by who they married, and her behavior would not earn her a proper husband. 

It was none of her business if the white-pawed female wanted to create such a path for herself. Effie was only concerned with one thing, and that was to be married and serve her husband to the best of her ability; she had no qualms with anyone who didn't pose a threat that.

Addison's speech was no different than what her mother had told Effie her whole life. She knew her place in the world, and had no desire to change that, and so she nodded respectfully to show her understanding and acceptance of the rules Addison had laid out. Emerson arrived then, apologizing for being late, and Effie offered her a polite bow of her head in greeting but remained silent.
