Patrols weren't as effective at alleviating his anxieties anymore. He done them so often and they had become so routine, that they didn't offer his mind much in the way of distraction as they once did. Still, he did them, if only to provide the safety the group needed and to ease his protectiveness some. And it was still what he found himself doing tonight when his mind was too busy to let him sleep.
The terrain around their camp had become so familiar that he could tell when the slightest thing was out of place, which made tonight's sentry duty efficient, but left his mind open to his intrusive anxious thoughts. Finally, deciding his patrol was adequate but wasn't going to provide him with any kind of distraction, he sat down in the trees a distance from where the pack slept, letting out a long sigh as he did so.
