All Welcome
each day presented a new opportunity for the young seal hunter. today it was a horseshoe crab washed ashore and stuck on it's back. typically he would have chowed down on whatever unfortunate creature might have been pushed to shore, but the wriggling alien like legs unsettled him and he opted for a more merciful approach.

he tapped his paw along the side of the shell, a soft knock echoing back to him. after figuring out the creature could not reach him there, he had attempted to flip it over with a push of his snout only to end up turning it around in circles a few times. he plopped back to his rear, looked over the still wriggling legs, and decided that maybe figuring out a plan would be better than trial and error.

Ponderosa was not far from the den, she did not like to wander too far, but she felt a need to try. Try to explore her growing world.

Today, under the watchful eyes of Sumac, her father, she neared the shore after her father’s reassurance, and warning to not get too close to the wave.

She looked to the water, from a distance, then looked over the rest of the beach, when a figure was caught in her line of sight. The figure of another youth, older than her, surely, but that didn’t quite matter. She slinked close, her now yellowing eyes large and question. She sniffed the air, then let out a simple “Hello.”

She looked to her father, asking if she could go too. After approval she followed hastily after her sister, “Rosa! Wait for me!” She ran toward her sister, the came to a swift stop.

She saw a figure on the distance, which was what her sister was looking at, “who this?” From the distance it was a little hard to tell, was it a pup too? Were they friendly?

She looked at her sister, then back at their father who was still watching them. She decided to lead and cautiously trot over towards the stranger.
