All Welcome
For my kiddos! <3

Now that spring was here, Kaskara had some plans for her kids. It was rather early, and though she knew her children weren't all early risers, she knew they'd come at her call. She settled in a glade the little family frequented and threw back her head, calling for @Rian, @Dublin, @Szabala, and @Eimear to attend her. Today they would learn a few skills, and if she had anything to say about it, they'd be well on their way to earning a specialty or two.

Eimear was tangled in the furs lining her den, one foreleg draped over her eyes. In the darkness it was hard to tell if she heard her mother, but after a long moment her ears swiveled toward the den's entrance. It took a long moment for the lanky girl to extract herself from the den, but she finally did it. Blinking and yawning, the dust-colored girl stood a moment in the early morning light and allowed herself to adjust. Then she headed toward her mother's voice, her usual peppy gait somewhat demure this early in the morning.

When her mother appeared in the glade, Eimear smiled softly and nuzzled her mother's chin. G'morn Mama, she said softly, settling against her mother's legs while they waited for the rest of her siblings.

Earlier that morning, Rian had woken to the sound of a woodpecker drilling away at one of the trees above their little glade, creating a great deal of noise, and making it difficult for the yearling boy to reclaim his comfortable slumber. So he'd departed the den and wandered the short distance to a nearby hillock to observe the waving spring grass as the wind whistled carelessly over the plain and listen to the sweet song of morning as it illuminated the sky.

But his peaceful reverie came to an end when his mother's commanding call rose above the trees. A shard of pain ripped violently through his heart when he, once more, recalled his conversation with Cypress. That once-invasive thought was nearly all-consuming now, but he still hadn't the courage to tell his family. So, instead of sitting there rife with anxiety, he drew himself up and returned to the glade where Kaskara and Eimear were already waiting.

The crick of his tail was telling of his uncertainty, but he closed the distance between them to greet both properly. He pressed a sweet kiss to Eimear's muzzle, and then extended his neck to rub his cheek affectionately into the thick chocolate fur of his mother's ruff. Once finished, he circled around them both to stand just off Kaskara's left shoulder.
As ruthless as it all may seem the wild cares not for the weaker beings.

He still felt like a stranger here, but there was a comfort in being reunited with his remaining family. The others didn't seem as lost as he did, and that wrought a jealousy in his breast— he stifled it, or more appropriately, it was stifled by a lethargy that hadn't been there prior to his journey from the borders. Dublin found the most comfort in sleep.

And so he stirred, groggily, an irritated moan escaping his jaws from deep within his chest. Just a moment more! It was his mother's voice, however, and despite everything, the boy harbored a deep loyalty to her. He shook the sleep from each leg in turn, moving toward her sleep-site with an unhurried gait and a posture that bespoke exhaustion.
