All Welcome
keeping timeframe vague for now if ok @Lucca

the fiend had quit blackfeather's woods in favor of new haunts - it would not do to troll in one's own backyard, and he knew tensions to be high in the shadowed moor he called home. his limbs had a mind of their own and before he knew it he was prowling among the tall spires of trees that marked the heartwood's entrance.

the male did not detect settlement within the evergreen-studded copse, and with one final look back at blackfeather, dematerialized into the grove's dark clutch.

Is ok!

Clover had managed to divert the adult's attention away from their other wards once again, and Lucca took advantage of the distraction. He was silently thankful for his little sister and her loudness, annoying as it was. He had been under lock down ever since his last escapade, but the boy was quick and surprisingly stealthy despite his ever-growing size. He had learned to travel through rivers to mask his scent, and lengthen his stride to disguise his gait, as well as to scan the horizon as he walked to keep an eye out for others.

Lucca did just that as he wandered through an oddly scorched-looking woodland even despite the snow, orange eyes focused on the corpses of trees before him. He had heard howls calling him back to the group as he had run but ignored them, pressing onwards until he had come across this deep forest. Up ahead, he saw a slim, dark figure weave silently through the trees and, curious, the boy headed towards the stranger.

between the blackened boughs and soft wells of snow, a greyclad figure flitted. iliksis paused in his tracks and studied the presence -- the frame was short, too short to be of an adult -- and the gait lacking the fluidity of a coyote or fox.

casually, iliksis resumed his path. he cut through a cloven trunk of fir and nimbly leapt upon it, regarding the boy from a higher vantage. the proportions of lucca's limbs betrayed his age - an age that iliksis found highly vulnerable.

with a catlike twitch of his tail he slipped down from the fallen tree and prowled towards the youth. "boy," he called, lowering his head as he stepped closer. "come here, boy."

Before Lucca could get any closer, the other disappeared, slipping into the shadows like a wraith. The boy stopped uncertainly, feeling a prickling sensation at his neck as his hair stood on end. A peculiar feeling, one he had never experienced before, told him to run. Danger! it cried, but the young wolf ignored it, starting forward again to seek out the mysterious stranger.

Suddenly, he reappeared, leaping atop a fallen log, a dark silhouette against an even darker backdrop. Once again, Lucca stopped, looking up at the man with a mixture of trepidation and curiousity. In his short life so far, the boy had never encountered evil face to face, never knew it even existed — he was the face of naiveté and misplaced trust. Still, he couldn't shake the uneasiness he felt. When the stranger called to him, Lucca glanced around as if to say who, me? Nevertheless, he obediently stepped forward with a tilt of his head. "Who are you?"

iliksis was certain the boy would run -- but he remained in his tracks. the dark male considered it fateful - perhaps he was paralyzed by fear, or perhaps he, like other souls iliksis had encountered in the hinterlands, had no conception of the pall of malice that was about to overcome him.

he stopped only a few feet from the silvery agouti, his dull eyes resting on the boy's soft throat with a strange and unidentifiable hunger. "iliksis." he did not ask the boy his in return -- instead, he flung himself to the boy's chest, hoping to slam into him with enough force to send him flying across the snow.

for a moment he seemed to stop and inspect his work -- and then like a devouring shadow, fell on the boy once more with fierce fangs scything for lucca's muzzle.

Lucca regarded him warily, off-put by the lack spark in his yellow eyes, as if something was missing. He wasn't a massive man and, given a few more months, Lucca would have overtaken him in size. For now, however, he was an untrained and inexperienced mess of gangly limbs and too big paws. He took a small step back as the stranger introduced himself, a single word that caused the boy's ears to fall flat on either side of his head. He opened his mouth to speak once more.

But the man struck suddenly and without warning, dashing forward and slamming against his chest. The Redhawk child barely managed to let out a word of protest before he was sent tumbling through the snow. He rolled thrice before coming to a stop, gasping for breath as he struggled to get air back into his lungs. "Wai—!" he began, panic clear even in his breathless voice, but it was too late. The wraith descended upon his scrabbling form, and suddenly all Lucca could feel was white hot pain erupt from his muzzle.

do you want me to have iliksis chased off by PPCs/NPCs next post? lmk!

the boy was defenseless against iliksis' onslaught, and iliksis noted cruelly that lucca did not even try to fight back, or defend himself. iliksis found that to be a shame, for he wished for challenge today.

perhaps a man of better moral fiber (certainly not he) would have found the encounter piteous and loosened the vicious nature of his assault, or tempered it in some way to match lucca's compliance with being savaged: but iliksis was not a gentle or merciful creature, and as he fell to lucca with teeth barbed and snapping, he found his head pounding for harm, for hurt. there was an anger that speared through his mind and focused on lucca with vehement hatred; he did not wait -- instead, he hastened.

as his teeth connected with lucca's muzzle he sought to put his entire weight down on the boy and slam him into the snow. if he was successful he'd search along the boy's neck for purchase and would slink powerfully over him, attempting to pin him down into the dirt in the most debase and humiliating manner possible.
